A/B test offers

How to split traffic between two URLs and compare the results.

Example: half of the people go to landing page A, half to landing page B, and conversions are compared in the affiliate network or tracker.

Set up the template

  1. In the Traffic route block, enter the first URL and click Another URL to add a second one.
  2. Tag the URLs with different parameters so you can tell them apart in reports: https://offer.example.org/a?variant=a and https://offer.example.org/b?variant=b. If the affiliate network supports subid, pass the tag there.
  3. Click Set shares and enter the weights. Shares are weights, not percentages: 1 and 1 — equal split, 1 and 3 — 25% and 75%.
  4. In How to choose, select Keep the same — a returning visitor then goes to the same URL as the first time and does not skew the comparison. Set how long to remember in the remember for field.
  5. Save the template and copy the URLs to existing links with the Redirect / page URL checkbox.

If you need the test for only part of the traffic, for example one country, add the URLs and shares to a stream instead of the main URL.

Compare the results

How many people went to each URL is in Statistics → Clicks: the click details show the URL the visitor went to. TDS.SO does not count conversions — compare them in the affiliate network or tracker by the variant parameter.

Do not draw conclusions from the first few hundred visits: with low traffic, the difference between variants is often random. Keep the test running until each variant has at least a few dozen conversions.

Finish the test

Delete the losing URL in the template and copy the URL to the links again.
