TDS.SO
How it works

How a click is processed

The path of a click from the link to the destination URL.

  1. The request reaches your server. Caddy accepts it and passes it to TDS.SO.
  2. TDS.SO finds the link by the domain and the slug after /: example.com/promo opens the link promo. More in Link URLs.
  3. The link's state is checked. A paused link returns error 403, a deleted one 404. After your subscription ends, all links stop working in about a day.
  4. Bots are filtered out. The template's filter decides whether the visitor is a bot. A bot gets the bot action right away; streams do not apply to it.
  5. Streams are checked. A person goes through the link's streams from top to bottom; the first match wins. If none matches, the main URL is used.
  6. The URL is built. If there are several URLs, one is picked by their shares, parameters are appended and macros are filled in.
  7. The visitor is sent to the URL with the selected redirect type, and the click is recorded in statistics.

When changes take effect

Changes to links, templates and landing pages take effect immediately. You do not need to touch the server.
