Link URLs
What a link URL consists of, which slugs are allowed and how subdomains work.
A link URL consists of the domain and the slug after the slash: https://example.com/promo. Anything after the slug — a path or ?utm_source=… parameters — does not change the link: example.com/promo/page?x=1 opens the same promo link.
How TDS.SO finds the link
TDS.SO looks for a link with this slug on the domain. If there is none, the visitor gets an empty 404 page.
A new link opens immediately.
Slug
The mode is set in the Slug after / field when you create a link.
| Mode | Slug |
|---|---|
| Auto | random; length and characters come from the template's URL Generation block |
| Custom | your own, up to 60 characters |
| Just / | no slug — the link opens at the domain's address |
For a custom slug, use Latin letters, digits, - and _. Case does not matter: Promo and promo are the same link. Cyrillic works, but in ad accounts and messengers it turns into a long string like %D0%BF….
www and subdomains
www.example.com and example.com are the same domain. The subdomain shop.example.com works as the main domain unless it is added to the dashboard separately: shop.example.com/promo opens the promo link of example.com.
To make subdomains open, add a * DNS record, see subdomains.
Cyrillic domains
пример.рф and xn--e1afmkfd.xn--p1ai are the same domain; the link opens with either spelling.
